Briefly describe yourself and your background.
My family and I moved to Marvin four years ago, seeking a change of pace and a deeper connection to the church we began attending online during the COVID pandemic. We were drawn to Marvin not only for its proximity to our church but also for its unique blend of rural charm and accessibility to the city. Of all the places we could have chosen, Marvin stood out for its character and sense of community. Through my formal education and my service on the Planning Board and Board of Adjustment, I’ve gained valuable insight into the workings of our Village. I’m now looking to build on that experience and contribute to shaping Marvin’s future. My candidacy is rooted in preserving the qualities that make our community so distinctive while thoughtfully guiding its growth.

Describe your experience and accomplishments.
My greatest accomplishments are around my wife and children who have all excelled personally and professionally in their careers. Professionally, I had an amazing 20-year career in corporate America as an executive. Lastly, I have spent the last 10 years as a business owner building a solid business and continue to expand and grow the business. I believe education, corporate, experience and entrepreneurial experience is a solid mix of experience to prepare for the village council.

What would be your top priorities for your term in office?
1. Preserve Marvin’s Rural Character and Open Spaces 2. Infrastructure and Traffic Management 3. Responsible Residential and Commercial Development 4. Fiscal Responsibility and Transparency 5. Community Engagement and Services 6. School and County Collaboration

How do you plan to address those priorities?
1. Smart growth: Prioritize low-density, thoughtfully planned development that aligns with Marvin’s rural-residential identity. Land conservation: Support preservation easements, greenway expansion, and collaboration with land trusts to protect natural beauty and open space. 2.Traffic calming and road safety: Collaborate with NCDOT and Union County to address congestion and speeding on roads like Marvin School Road, New Town Road, and Marvin Road. 3. Zoning enforcement: Maintain zoning consistency that prevents overdevelopment and protects property values. Village Center development: Thoughtfully guide the Village Center (near Marvin Efird Park) to be a walkable, community-focused gathering place without over-commercialization. 4. Efficient budgeting: Prioritize core services and infrastructure without burdening residents with unnecessary taxes. 5. Recreation and events: Support family-friendly programs, festivals, and events at Marvin Efird Park and beyond. Youth and senior engagement: Encourage initiatives that include all age groups, from volunteer opportunities to age-specific programs.

What is your long-term vision for the Village and how do you plan to make it a reality?
1. Preserve the Rural & Natural Character Plan: Protect green spaces, farmland, and tree canopies through conservation easements and low-density zoning. Action: Expand parks, trails, and greenways, like the Marvin Loop, while incentivizing land conservation. 2. Smart Growth & Land Use Plan: Guide growth with a comprehensive land use plan that respects the village's identity. Action: Encourage clustered residential development with buffers, and maintain a clear boundary between Marvin and more urbanized areas. 3. Infrastructure & Traffic Solutions Plan: Improve traffic flow and pedestrian safety without compromising the rural feel. Action: Collaborate with NCDOT on traffic-calming, roundabouts, and safer intersections; expand sidewalks and bike paths. 4. Transparent & Responsible Governance Plan: Make decisions that reflect community values and fiscal responsibility. Action: Use resident surveys, open forums, and digital platforms for input; maintain a balanced budget while investing in capital improvements.
