The Public Works Department was established in 2023 and is responsible for the maintenance of Village-owned facilities and infrastructure, including Village Hall, Marvin Efird Park, village trails and greenways, and village-maintained roads and road infrastructure. Public Works also administers the Village's contract for solid waste and recycling services with Active Waste Solutions.

Public Works Director

The Village of Marvin would like to welcome David “Davy” Broom as the new Public Works Director. In the past five years, the number of Village-owned facilities has grown exponentially, namely Village Hall, trails/greenways, and roads. Additionally, the Village has taken over contractual solid waste management to provide cost savings and streamlined services to Marvin residents.

The Public Works Director was identified as a new position in the Village’s budget for fiscal year 2023-2024. The Village is thrilled to introduce Mr. Broom to serve the residents of Marvin in that capacity. Mr. Broom comes to Marvin with 23 years’ experience in local government where he served as the Public Works Director of the Town of Fort Mill for 18 years and then as Town Manager for Fort Mill for approximately 5 years. Mr. Broom has extensive experience managing day-to-day operations of streets, sanitation, buildings/grounds, garage/fleet maintenance, police, fire, finance, planning/zoning, human resources, information technology, public works, parks and recreation, and other relevant enterprise funds (water, sewer, stormwater) and has been responsible for 220 employees, executing over $70M in capital projects. Undoubtedly, as Marvin continues to strive to offer the highest quality of life standards, Mr. Broom will be there to support residents.
