Parking for Marvin Day

Please note that parking will be unavailable at Marvin Efird Park for the duration of the Marvin Day Celebration.  Attendees will park at Marvin Ridge High School or Marvin Elementary School. Complimentary shuttles will be available to take attendees to and from Marvin Efird Park.

Visit Marvin Village Hall, located at 10006 Marvin School Road from 6-8pm on Opening Night, Friday, June 2, 2023. Come meet your Councilmembers, enjoy some charcuterie and wine, and learn about our new Parks Master Plan and our plans for a new park adjacent to Marvin Village Hall!

 

5K and Family Fun Run

5K/Family Fun Run

Join us for our 2nd Annual Marvin Day 5K & Family Half Mile Fun Run on 6/3/23. The 5K is 3.1 Miles. The Family Fun run is a half-mile run/walk.

Packet Pickup - Friday, June 2nd from 3:00pm to 6:00pm at Village Hall 10006 Marvin School Rd. Marvin, NC 28173 and Saturday, June 3rd from 7:00am to 8:20 am at Marvin Elementary School 9700 MarvinSchool Rd. Marvin, NC 28173

This flat scenic course will start and end at Marvin Elementary School and take runners through our beautiful Greenway. The 5K kicks off at 8:30am with a kid-friendly Fun Run starting at 9:30am. This timed race includes a Marvin Day 5k T-Shirt, Medals for the Top 3 men and women as well as Top 3 awards in the 10-year age group for males and females. Award groups are 0-10, 11-20, 21-30, 31-40, 41-50, 51-60, 60+.

All participants in the fun run will earn a finishers medal. Any parent/relative running the 5K is invited join their children for the Fun Run with no additional cost or registration.

Health Fair & Blood Drive

Healthfair/Blood DriveOur Marvin Day Celebration begins with a health and wellness fair at Marvin Elementary School! Here, in addition to our 5K and family fun run we will have a fire truck, and the “Big Red Bus” from One Blood, to take blood donations. There will be a block party with health and wellness vendors on display in the bus parking lot along with live music. Visit the booths and learn more about all kinds of health and wellness topics and local businesses. Vendors will have giveways and discounts available for attendees.

 

Dunk Tank

Dunk TankWe're super excited to announce that Marvin Day will feature a dunk tank! Attendees will have the chance to dunk the Mayor, Mayor Pro Tem, and other Councilmembers between 12-4pm! Come out and dunk the Mayor and Village Council!

Nature Walks & Garden Talks

Garden ToursAttention nature lovers! The Village of Marvin is committed to expanding its greenways and trails with the goals of connectivity, conservation, sustainability, and increased recreation. Join us for family friendly, leisurely nature walks and garden talks at Marvin Efird Park to learn more about our greenways, composting, and building your own butterfly garden. Registration is not required.

  • Nature Walks will be held at 11am and 1pm
  • Garden Talks will be held at 12pm and 2pm
    • ​12pm - 5 Ways to Attract Butterflies to Your Garden
    • 2pm - Create a Wildlife Habitat in 5 Easy Steps

 

Firethorne Country Club Open House & Art Expo

Firethorne Country Club Open House

Firethorne Country Club is hosting an open house from 9am until 3pm during Marvin Day! Meet Club leaders and learn about Firethorne's programs, amenities, and community involvement while enjoying games, music, and delicious food! Food trucks on site include: Vita da Pizza, RiCoQui, and VeloPops.

Firethorne will also be hosting an Artist Expo from 9am until 3pm in the Main Ballroom. A wide variety of artist works will be represented, including ceramics, mapmaking, beads, home decor, paintings and drawings. The room is weather/temperature controlled, so regardless of the weather you'll be comfortable!

Parking will be available on-site for those attending events at Firethorne Country Club. Those needing to travel to Marvin Efird Park for other Marvin Day events will need to park at Marvin Elementary School or Marvin Ridge High Schools. Complimentary shuttles will be available.

 

Jones Homes USA Kids Fun Zone

Kids ActivitiesMarvin Day will feature many fun activities for the kids, including a bounce house, balloon animals, face painting, hair tinsel, and multiple arts and crafts. Jones Homes USA has graciously sponsored the Marvin Day Kids Fun Zone, making all these activities free of charge for all.

The bounce house will be available all day starting at 11am. All other kid activities will be available from 11am-3pm.

 

Animal Exhibits

Animal ExhibitsThe Village of Marvin's tagline is "Enriched by Nature," and our love for nature includes animals! Marvin Day will host numerous free animal exhibits, including:

  • Rescue Dogs (Adoptions Available and Welcomed!)
  • Snakes, Turtles, and other Reptiles
  • Geese, Ducks, and other waterfowl from Carolina Waterfowl Rescue

Come out, learn, and interact with all these animals between 11am and 2pm. Please note that times will vary, depending on the individual animals' needs.

 

Disc Golf Clinics

Disc Golf Did you know that Marvin Efird Park hosts a 9-hole disc golf course? Bring some friends and come play a game during Marvin Day! Are you wondering what disc golf is or how to play?

You’re in luck! We are hosting four FREE disc golf clinics. Clinics will be held at 11:30am, 1pm, 2:30pm, and 4pm. There is a limit of 25 people per clinic. The 25 who participate in each clinic will receive a FREE souvenir Marvin Day disc!

 

Marvin Day Concert & Linnane Homes Fireworks Show

Fireworks DisplayWe're proud to host our second annual Marvin Day Concert at 6pm! Coconut Groove Band and Continental Divide will be sharing the stage for the event. Get ready to jam out and sing along to songs we all know and love!

The grande finale to our Marvin Day Celebration will be the Linnane Homes Fireworks Show! The fireworks show will start right after the concert and light up the sky over Marvin Efird Park!

Please bring your own blankets or chairs for the concert and fireworks!

Food Trucks

Food Trucks Food Trucks will be on site at all of our main Marvin Day locations, beginning with coffee and kid-friendly beverages at Marvin Elementary School in the morning. Later, we will have food trucks on site during the moring and evening events at Marvin Efird Park for your lunch and dinner needs. The food trucks will be serving a variety of cuisine, including pizza, Mexican, Greek, lobster, hotdogs and more!
