MARSH is Now Habitat Builders

Habitat Builders Logo

To align with other North Carolina Wildlife Federation (NCWF) chapters and to better reflect our impact across communities on the west side of Union County, we have changed our name to HABITAT BUILDERS.

Since our start in 2019, this NCWF chapter has done much in our surrounding area to build awareness, build habitat, and build community. Highlights from the past year include Arbor Day tree plantings at seven elementary schools with educational programming for 1,000 students, five educational Speaker Series programs, numerous invasive plant removal days at local parks and trails, garden and bird walks, and water sampling in partnership with Catawba RiverKeeper. In 2023, we were named NCWF Chapter of the Year!

Though our name has changed, we remain committed to educating and engaging our community about the importance and benefits of restoring, protecting and conserving our wildlife and natural habitat. We hope you continue to build habitat with us!

Our group was established as a chapter of the NC Wildlife Federation in 2019 and successfully achieved our first major goal to certify the Village of Marvin as a Wildlife Habitat within a year! We’re proud of the work we’ve accomplished in a short time, which also includes many educational programs, hosting a garden tour, and developing a grant program to support classroom teachers in educating the next generation about the importance of sustainable wildlife practices.
