The Village of Marvin and the North Carolina Department of Transportation (NCDOT) have been working diligently over the last several years to construct a roundabout at the intersection of Marvin Road and New Town Road. Since 2018, several competing factors and funding issues at the State level have caused significant delays. Throughout this time, Marvin officials have maintained the stance of prioritizing this intersection of utmost importance while also prioritizing safety and mitigating traffic congestion by covering the cost of off-duty patrol for 3 years in a row.
It is with much pleasure and excitement we are officially announcing the project should be completed in 2023! NCDOT has finally received 100% acquisition on right of way needed to provide the fourth leg of the proposed roundabout and it actively working to get some utility relocations completed and the project authorized to bid. Contracts are supposed to be awarded in February assuming reasonable bids come back. Immediately after bid awards, contractors begin order supplies and begin construction.  Please keep in mind the state of our economy with backorder of materials so this could impact schedule slightly, but we are hoping for construction start date in Spring/Summer of 2023. We thank you for all your patience and support in this much needed project that we are certain will bring great relief to residents of Marvin! Below is an image of proposed design:
